FAQs

Does it matter when I make my gift?

Yes. A gift or pledge made early in the school year is a great advantage to the School because it allows us to know what is available to support the School's budget. We encourage families to make their annual pledge by 31 December and make all payments prior to 31 May. Pledges can be made by emailing denise.mcadoo@saltus.bm. The 2022-23 fiscal year runs from 1 July 2022 - 30 June 2023.

I am a Saltus alum and a current parent. Which fund should I support?

The Saltus Fund and the Alumni Scholarship Fund are both critical fundraising efforts, and we ask that all current parents make their first priority the Saltus Fund.  A line-item in the operating budget, we must raise these funds. The Alumni Scholarship Fund is also important and continues to grow annually with the support of our alumni.  Whenever possible, we ask parents who are also alumni to allocate a portion of their gift to the ASF so the fund can continue to grown in perpetuity.

If I am an alum do I need to give to a specific fund for the gift to be matched?

Yes, only gifts to the Alumni Scholarship Fund are matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $200,000. Your gift to the Saltus Fund are incredibly important but do not qualify for the match.

Who should I contact with questions about my gift?

Please email denise.mcadoo@saltus.bm with any questions about your gift.

I am seeking US Tax Consideration, How do I make my gift?

For the 2023 tax year, if you do not generally itemize your tax return, you can now deduct up to $300 per individual or $600 per couple filing a joint U.S. return, for qualifying charitable donations made in 2022. This will be taken in addition to the standard deduction in arriving at taxable income.

For individuals who itemize their returns, the legislation permits individuals to claim deductions on qualified charitable contributions up to 100% of their adjusted gross income for 2023.

To be eligible for US tax benefits, gifts must be made through the Friends of Bermuda Community Foundation
